FAQ

Q   What building contracts do you undertake

A   Most of our core business is undertaking extensions, loft conversions, and remedial building works. Our team of builders can cater for any job size.

Q   Do I need an architect before phoning your company for a quotation.

A   No we are happy to meet with you and discuss any proposals. Once we establish an idea I can guide you on building regulations and the cost of an architect if necessary. We have been established in Harrogate for twenty years , Many architects use H&S for tendering and undertaking contracts.

Q   Are you a member of any guild or society within the building federation.

A   (No) simple reason I do not believe any federation can influence the relationship between client and contractor. We undertake many of our contracts using a JCT Minor works contract. I believe that most builds are undertaken on trust for one another. The government should start a licensing scheme to recommended companies which should be type rated as in many other businesses. If this became available H&S would wish to be apart of that.

Q   Are all your staff trained to do a professional job.

A   Yes  We employ many different trades people at H&S  We have brick layers joiners roofing contractors, plasterers plumbing & heating engineer  (Corgi registered), Painters & Decorators and ground work operatives.

A   A large contract would be £250,000 – £500,000 contract. However most of our domestic jobs tend of be £20.000 to £75,000, We also undertake a great number of remedial jobs. As we have a large client base we tend to undertake lots of repairs at old and new properties.

All the work is certificated and it helps both businesses, as we are recommended to their client base
